"Unidentified TBI: The Importance of Finding Those Who "Get Lost" and Those "Not Found"
The Federal TBI Program aired the web cast, "Unidentified TBI: The
Importance of Finding Those Who "Get Lost" and Those "Not Found"," on May
22, 2008. Dr. Wayne Gordon from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, whose
research into the societal cost of TBI was the basis for an article in The
Wall Street Journal, was the speaker.
The web cast focused on the link between a previous brain injury and
problems later in life. Viewing this web cast provides an excellent
opportunity to collect information to describe the importance of
identifying TBI and to illustrate the long-term cost to society. State
agencies, Protection and Advocacy Systems, and Statewide TBI Advisory
Boards/Councils can use this information to capture the attention of State
agencies to assist with raising brain injury awareness and securing
funding.
Invite groups of non-TBI State Agency employees and others to view the
archived web cast to raise the awareness of TBI within their agencies and
to open the lines of communication for future collaborations. (To learn
how to host a TBI web cast, visit the TBICS Idea Store. Once logged into
TBICS, click "Ideas" on the red horizontal bar, then "Idea Look Up." In
the keyword field enter "Hosting a TBI Web Cast.")
